In this video, Suitcase Monkey spent 4 enjoyable days in Mykonos, Greece. This trip was special for them because it was their first holiday abroad since the pandemic began. The video shares a peaceful journey, showing beaches, old streets, Greek food, and a day trip to learn history.
Arrival and First Impressions
They arrived with excitement, happy to be traveling internationally again. Their first night, even greeted with fireworks, adding a fun touch to the start of their trip.
Exploring Mykonos Town
On their first full day, they took a local bus into Mykonos Town, also known as Chora. The streets were narrow and pretty, with white houses, colorful doors, and flowers. Suitcase Monkey and their partner walked through winding paths, stopped at boutiques, and enjoyed the famous windmills built by Venetians centuries ago. These windmills once milled wheat and are now a classic spot for photos.
Morning Views Over Little Venice
They spent time at Little Venice, a part of town that sits right by the water. There are many bars and cafes here with wonderful sea views. The creator found that it’s best to enjoy this area late in the morning before it gets crowded.
Tasting Greek Food
Lunch was at Captain’s restaurant in the Old Port, a place they recommend. They ordered shared plates including Greek meatballs, octopus, and Greek salad. Later in the afternoon, they enjoyed ice cream and did some window shopping, just relaxing and taking in the sights.
Sunset at 180 Sunset Bar
The only evening with a booked table was at 180 Sunset Bar, a spot famous for its views. They had to reserve in advance and pay a cover charge, but that included food, drink, views, and live music. The sunset was beautiful, and the creator called it the best sunset of the trip.
Enjoying The Hotel and Nearby Beaches
Their hotel was on the southwest side of Mykonos, quiet yet close to two beaches. The hotel had a private beach, comfortable rooms with balconies, and great meals. Suitcase Monkey was impressed with the bread in Greece. They recommend the hotel for travelers.
Lunch at Ornos Beach
A short walk downhill brought them to Ornos Beach, which had a mix of families and restaurants. They had lunch at Kouzina, where they enjoyed sushi rolls and pasta dishes. The seaside lunch felt perfect after some relaxing time in the sun.
Dinner and Sunset at Agios Ioannis
For another meal, they walked to Agios Ioannis, a smaller beach known for movie scenes. They ate at Pili Beach restaurant, recommending it for both good food and sunset views.
Day Trip to Delos Island
The next day, Suitcase Monkey took a boat to Delos Island, a place famous for history and mythology. It is known as the birthplace of Apollo. They toured ancient ruins, homes, temples, statues, and an old amphitheater. The tour lasted about an hour, and they enjoyed walking around the ruins on their own afterward.
Back for More Greek Food
Returning to Mykonos Town, they ate souvlaki in pita bread and had dinner at a hotel next door to their own. They admired the pools at this neighboring hotel and joked about feeling like they were “cheating” on their own hotel.
Beach Hopping on the Last Day
On their final day, they used the Mykonos Water Taxi to visit several beaches along the south coast. One ticket allowed unlimited rides to seven beaches. The beaches had lots of places for cocktails, meals, and relaxing in the sun. The creator also recommends walking from Platis Gialos Beach to Paradise Beach for great views.
Helpful Travel Tips
Throughout the video, Suitcase Monkey shared transport tips, where to stay, and paying by card or cash. They showed how COVID tests are part of travel now. There were links in the video for hotel and tour details, and they offered another video with more practical advice.
